Bukammun - Hwaseong Fortress

Suwon is famous for its histrorical fortress, a very big one - Hwaseong Fortress. The fortress is very huge and its circling sort of around the whole Suwon city. Nearly six kilometer circuit of stone walls constructed in the late 18th -century.

Bukammun (Northern Secret Gate) is one of five secret gates found at Hwaseong Fortress. It is located in between Dongbukgangnu (Northeastern Angle Tower) and Gakgeondae.

Bukammun (Northern Secret Gate)

Hwaseong Fortress has five secret gates for passage of people, cattle and military supplies. Constructed on March 1796, in the 20th year of King Jeongjo's rein, between Suwon Banghwasuryujeong (Northeastern Pavilion) and Dongbukporu (Northeastern Sentry Post), Bukkamun is the only structure with brick walls at Hwaseong Fortress.
