Suwon Banghwasuryu jeong - Hwaseong Fortress
Walking through the same side area of Hwaseong Fortress we found this structure ... Banghwasuryujeong.
Banghwasuryujeong Pavilion sits above Yongyeon Pond, providing great scenery, and functions as a strategic military position. Standing at the east side of Hwahongmun Gate, this northeast pavilion command a breathtaking view over the city. Exhibiting an exquisite beauty and tranquility found nowhere else. Suwon Banghwasuryu jeong
Constructed on Oct 1794, in the 18th year of King Jeongjo's rein, Suwon Banghwasuryujeong served multiple functions, including those of a watchtower, a command post and a pavilion. As a pavilion, it was in harmony with the natural surroundings and thus was named with the meaning, 'a pavilion chasing after flowers and floating along with willow branches'. The pavilion is said to be the most beautiful and unique structure of Hwaseong Fortress.
